Adobe Fails To Load Flash - So does iPad ·
Feb 05, 2010
This is a screenshot of me waiting for Adobe to load it’s Flash content.
Here’s the point. Why use Flash on your site, Adobe, when it doesn’t load? I hate to say it but sometimes it’s just not smart to use Flash to impress, because when it fails to load, you seem like a turd. At least have some brains to add a script for a backup JPG, PNG or GIF.
I don’t know, nor does anyone care what caused the file to clog your super servers. Users don’t realy care for the animation. They want something static and clickable. That’s it.
Unfortunately a writer for NPR called it correctly. Steve Jobs sees the future. Flash isn’t part of their process for the iPad -HTML 5 will be. They’ll be using it to play videos in the near future, plus streaming content. Waiting for an animation to load isn’t an answer. Loading content faster is. So when I visit Adobe’s site or anyone else’s and I’m waiting for their Flash animation or graphics to load be aware users don’t like to wait. And one off Flash content will never beat real content that we can share. And Flash isn’t required for that at all. Look at Facebook. All content, except for the apps. But the host, FB isn’t using Flash, and they make the money. Look at the biggies and you’ll realize that this absurdity with animating something can get old. Build something useful, or just use HTML. Really.
