Welcome to part 1 of designing web sites using Adobe’s InDesign.
Let’s start with the basic, a new site.
The first thing you’ll see is the box pop up and ask you to input some fields. Here’s what the modal should look like:

Here’s the settings I’ll use for a 1024×768 window. Though I’m making my window a bit taller by setting it to 1024×900. Rather than using Pixels, Ems or Picas just enter into the Width 1024pt and InDesign will automatically turn it into Points. Remember Points and Picas are very close, but Picas allow for smaller measurements.

If you set InDesign’s Default Color settings right as soon as the application starts, it will remember the settings for all other projects you open. Since I mostly work with Internet projects, I prefer my fonts and colors to be set right from the get go.
Here’s how to set the Indesign color preferences for your document. Before I start any project I usually do this.
1. Double-click the Paragraph Styles. On the right-hand side you’ll see Character Color
