I’m a big advocate for using InDesign for web designing. In this file I use InDesign for creating 400×400 icons. The best reason for this is because you are able to use different Paragraph Styles and Paragraph Rules. In this example I set the Textframe Options as well to keep the padding inside. There’s three examples so you can also create Drop Caps. I’ll be using these icons for different thumbnails but it’s a nice and easy way to keep all your icons organized in one InDesign document and if you used Master Pages you could even mark each type of icon.

How To Create A Mask With InDesign

This solution is used to create a soft mask, as if a gradient is applied, using InDesign CS4.
- First select your object you want to add a mask too. In this case I’ve selected the car
- Set the TRANSPARENCY to your desire, in this case 44% and use MULTIPLY
- Add a GRADIENT FEATHER by selecting the check box. I used the default colors and set the orientation to 86 Degrees so it’s not completely set to TOP to BOTTOM. Feel free to
