? Hipster, eh?

A hipster. Probably been one since my waning teens wanting to be a part of the ‘ultimate’ cools group. It’s a horrific quagmire. Be known or to be ‘unique’. Is it my fault that I fall under this category of music? Should I accept this fact?

I felt that the music I was listening to was the next ‘big’ thing, especially since I was listening to this music online, but not to the level of that h-word. I even sent money to the online radio station somafm.com so the site would continue playing whatever atmospheric junk sneaked up on them that they labeled independent. And the only opportunity I had to listen to this genre was online. The only other time I had a chance was whenever I listened to college radio. Am I so unoriginal? Yes. Is it so bad if now every movie plays this indie music? Yes. Shouldn’t Abercombie, Old Navy, The Gap or Entenmann’s commercial be allowed to play the nice melodies? Yes. Didn’t we want the genre to break out? Yes. Did we sell out? Yes. So many yes’ it’s not even funny.

I felt as if I was contributing by listening. And this is what a hipster does. From wikipedia. Hipster definition – “... mass of younger individuals who take it upon themselves to appreciate and divulge their taste into hype and trends…”. I listened to this genre of synergistic noise entrenched with it’s individuality, and I was wrong. I was fooled. Again. By advertising, the media, and Target.

Ok. I am now a fucking hipster. I listened to this music so I’d have the chance to listen to it everywhere I went. It worked. Now I will do my best to find the next indie culture of music before I hear it on the damn radio every five minutes…

No me di cuenta que la musica que estaba oyendo me hiba clasificar estilo ‘hipster’. Pensaba que era musica unica, original, o nueva. Posiblemente era, pero ya no es. Ahora cada comercial or pelicula toca esta musica considerada independiente. Mierda. Los Estados Unidos toma cada cosa para efectivamente hacerlo trabajar para el capatalismo. Shingada. De nuevo tengo que encontrar nueva musica. Algo original, halgo que suena como mi corazon antes que se pare.
