my name and google and the search for myself ·
Aug 14, 12:02 PMFunny, I sit dormant for a little while and searched on google for zeus perez and lo and behold, facebook took over my top position and now some rampant newcomer has come to attempt to take over my names threshold. Now I have to work at getting everyone off of page one on google. On yahoo, things aren’t so bad, and I haven’t yet checked the MSN search results. So it’s back to me trying to update my blog and more importantly making sure im seo’d.
So I guess I’m curious how many people sit there and google their own name to find out what shows up? I have a rather peculiar name, so it’s easy to be number one since not that many people have it and even if they did, they wouldn’t care that much about being found online. Most users are wearing their masks online so no one can find them. They try to be sneaky so they can try to run around creating some havoc without leaving some paper trail. Other users don’t care, they just accepted to be called zeus1123349 so they could have the name zeus upfront.
I guess if you’re a regular Joe you probably wouldn’t care as much about being found via google as you would if they were using facebook, which to many people is the web since they can do everything there. Still, I’d love to know if people search for themselves and are they suprised by what they find or possibly even motivated? If you search for Ryan Roberts, which there may be like 50 or more or Jose Rodriguez, do you go find out about these people and how does that feel when you see what comes up?
And what happens if your name does come up as number 1 when you search for it? I imagine there’s a number of feelings that must come with that like accomplishment or downright fear.
