Why No One Clicks Your Banners ·
Dec 09, 2009Overall issue with many online designs created by newbies:
- Too many messages. Simplify.
- Shop Now overpowers Logo. Brand.
- Characters are cute, but take up space. Use Inventory Instead.
- Fly through text cumbersome and not easily readable. Make Readable.
- Use 3 Frames, 1 Offer. Shop Now. Online, less can be more. Rinse, repeat 3 times then resolve. You have like 8 message frames on one of these.
- Don’t animate everything. Bouncing Shop Now (Click here) is annoying. Animate, then pause, like a pulsate. Then animate. Don’t jitter things either
- You don’t need Shop Now and Click here and these get boring. Instead try BUY THIS or SEE DISCOUNTS. Get creative.
On many ads way too much is going on but not enough reason to click. Message or brands get lost. I know it was an ad, but for the most part people can’t remember what the offer was nor an incentive to click. We’ve built blinders to ads. Animation sets off these blinders.
There’s a simple paradigm you can use to make any advertising better if you follow No. 5.
Get 3 frames that make magic and sell something, then workout how to make the animation work.
Keep the message simple and attractive.
